It's so damn expensive to even just ENTER the City these days, let alone trying to find a place to park and having to pay BIG $$$ to park your car. $8 for the Tunnel, $28 to park the car for 3 hours I mean come on $36 AND a 3 BLOCK walk before I even saw the Javets Center LOL. Anyway, I finally got in and received my badge holder, good thing I pre-registered and already had my paper work, the line was crazy huge and it would have been another 30 min. before I got to enjoy myself. The first thing I saw when I entered is the HUGE display NIKON had, it was easily TWICE the size of Canons booth and they had a line around the corner with people waiting to enter a drawing for a pair of Vespa Moped / Motor Bikes. So I jumped in the line as well where I received a nice 2010 Nikon Calendar, a Handful of Nikon Lapel Pins, (2) DVD Copies of the FULL Version of CAPTURE NX2 with a 60 day free trial attached to them and a bunch of other goodies I haven't checked out yet. Seemed like everyone in the place was carrying a Bright Yellow Nikon shopping bag.

A short while later I met the famous 'Scott Kelby' and had a few words with him about his Photoshop CS3/4 & Lightroom 2 books that I bought and have helped me do some wonderful things with those programs, he was very appreciative that I enjoyed his work so much. Silly me forgot to get a picture taken with him though LOL I would have felt funny asking anyway. Then I went over to the Nikon Lens & Camera display where they had a bunch of new gear to look at, all their new bodies like the D3s, D300s, D5000 and a bunch of new glass. They also had their HUGE 600mm f/4 Prime Lens mounted on a half dozen D3s's to lpay around with, all I have to say is WOW what a lens ! The images were so crisp and clean and had no problem shooting frames at ISO 6400 across the entire expo floor. I should have stuck one of my memory cards in the D3s so I could have shown off some of the image (I wan't thinking as usual LOL) but they had the camera's set up in DEMO mode so you could at least see the images on the LCD and I was really impressed. It should be impressive for the price tag, $10,299 YIKES !

I then waited about 15 min. to speak to a rep in reference to getting some warranty work done on one of my lenses and getting my D300 tuned up since I have around 100,000 frames on her now since Nov. '07. I was kind of disappointed that there weren't more actual VENDORS there where you could purchase some of the new stuff they had on display. I even looked at the Brand New Nikon Coolpix S640 that was just released a few weeks ago and needing a quick simple Point & shoot for myself so I don't have to carry around my big gear all the time out in the car I decided to pick one up when I returned home. It's rated as the fastest focusing compact on the market now and I'll tell you first hand it IS FAST. Very simple operation, clean sharp images and lots of P&S toys and program modes to fool around with, it will suit my needs just fine.

I do have one very cool story for you, I stepped into the TAMRAC booth and looked at their new gear bags when one of the reps came over to me and asked if I was able to get my D300 into the smaller Tamrac 'Cyber 5' back pack I was carrying since it's not built for a D300 with a battery pack attached, so I told him it JUST fits along with 2 additional lenses, a SB-900 flash and some cleaning gear without a problem, he was impressed to say the least. Then I spotted their 8 set battery pouch on display that I have been looking all over for and have been unable to find, I told him that I was an avid Tamrac user and have over 6 of their gear bags along with 10 lens case attachments , filter bag, water bottle holders etc. So he told me I should stop by B&H to get the battery pouch but then realized it was Saturday and they were closed.

This is where the story gets cool, a woman rep who had been listening to my story of how happy of a Tamrac Customer I was motioned to the guy I was talking to, he proceeded to take the brand new battery pouch off the display rack, rip the packaging off and then handed it to me saying "Here Bill, just take this one for being such a loyal Tamrac Customer" I was FLOORED. I mean it's only a $25 piece of gear but he didn't have to do that and it really made me happy that I was being given the item for FREE that was only supposed to be used for display. What a wonderful gesture from Tamrac and now I know why I have spent well over $750 on their gear bags & accessories over the years. Too bad I didn't admire one of their new big bags that go for $300 LOL and got one of those on the cuff haha.

The rest of the Expo had TONS of Printing Companies showing off their new Wedding Album lines, various papers and textures along with other items like family books etc. that they print.

* FREE OFFERS: If anyone is interested in trying out the printing company 'NATIONS PHOTO LAB' I have a Promo Code for $25 worth of FREE Prints just for signing up for a free account. Below you'll find some of the images I shot during the days festivities and the street shots I took during my 3 block walk to & from my car.

~Bill~

10/17/09 - Well I'm making final preparations for my LIVE stage shoot tonight for my clients "Devil You Know" who are one of New Jersey's hottest cover rock bands and are presently on their "Ripped & Hammered Tour" playing in NJ-NY-CT. Preparing for a shoot in front of a live audience can be tricky and you'll want to have a game plan before you go in so you don't look like your lost before you even get started. Most people who don't shoot for a living have no idea how much goes into an ON LOCATION photo shoot but most of your planning will take place on the fly once you arrive at the venue and see what actual space provides you with so you can get your creative juices flowing. Shooting a job like this can be very exciting even for a seasoned veteran and forces you to be at the top of your game come show time.

I'll be trying some innovative off camera lighting techniques with them tonight utilizing some specialty lenses.

Gear / Lenses I'll be Packing:

Nikon 10.5mm f/2.8 Fish Eye

Lens Baby 3G

Along with my favorite fast low light lenses:

The mighty Nikon 50mm f/1.8 Prime

Tamron Di II XR 17-50mm f/2.8 Wide Angle

Tamron 90mm f/2.8 Di XR 1:1 Macro Prime

I might even try some shots with my walk around Nikon 18-200mm VR from a distance

* Lighting & Fill will consist of (2) Nikon SB-900's and (1) SB-600 shot off camera utilizing Pocket Wizard Plus II's at various angles around the stage and maybe one behind the band for some silhouette shots too. The SB-600 will have a HONL Photo 1/4" Speed Grid attached for concentrated lighting & I'll use one SB-900 with a HONL 5" Speed Snoot & the other SB-900 maybe a small 'Lumiquest' soft box with both SB-900's with HONL Color Effects filters attached (1 Red - 1 Green) to match the stage lighting and throw some color casting into the mix off the instruments. It's always good to have a PLAN of attack before you head out to a live shoot like this so I go through a half dozen cocktail napkins with chicken scratch & diagrams on them so i have a basic idea of what i want to do once I get to the venue. Preparing for a shoot like this is half the battle and if you have a battle plan drawn it makes life a lot easier but 9 times out of 10 things change once you get there and find out what the area you'll be shooting in will throw you like mirrors & reflective material around the stage, usually very DARK walls with little reflective value, tables & chairs in the way, crap hanging form the ceiling and the list goes on. But at least if you go into the job with a IDEA of what you want to do then you'll go home with more hair in your head rather then pulling it all out 5 min. before show time LOL

OK My Battle Plan is written, Gear bags - tri-pods & lighting mounts are packed, 12 sets of batteries are charged, lenses & sensors are cleaned and all gear has been tested. It's time to Rock & Roll in a few hours and now I'm getting that happy giddy feeling I always get just before an exciting shoot like this. The funny thing is that I'm all nervous now thinking about how I'm going to pull everything together and going over everything in my head how I planned it but once I get to the venue and put that camera around my neck I get this calming feeling over me and everything just comes second nature like I'm a robot and everything works out fine. They say that's the sign of a good professional but I say that's a sign that I've done my job, prepared properly and now it's not WORK but fun time. The WORK part of the job is the preparation & planning, shooting is the pay off and the time we as photographers live for just like a football player gets ready for the big game on Sunday. You never get to see what those guys go through during the week just the rewards of all that time they put in on the practice field.

In the end that's what my clients get, those unique images & snap shots of frozen time forever stamped into digital media, enhanced by the lights & motion of the world around us & captured by an electronic device and the push of a button at just the precise moment bringing joy, laughter & emotions to all that view them. That is the art of PHOTOGRAPHY and I just love it !

* Stop by the Band's "Devil You Know" Website to check these rockers out and Check back here next week for the story on how tonight goes along with some of the images I capture tonight with the full gallery being posted on my web site Bill Pador Photography in about a week.

* REVIEWS COMING SOON *

I mentioned HONL Photo Professional Light Enhancement System above, I'll be writing a full review on the entire line of products soon. They have a great portable light enhancement system for flash guns using a simple yet effective design so that pieces are able to be used together, alone or combined on numerous flashes on your set. The entire system can be had for around $200 and it packs nicely into your gear bag. Consisting of 1/8" & 1/4" Speed Grids, Snoot / Reflectors, Speed Gobo / Bounce Cards, Color Effects Gel Kit which is all tied together using a really cool non-sticking Velcro Speed Strap.

* I'll also be reviewing (2) Lenses: Nikon's 10.5mm f/2.8 Fish Eye & Tamron's 17-50mm Di XR Wide Angle both wonderful fast pieces of glass that should be in every photographers gear bag in my opinion.
* Finally I'll do a write up on the Absolutely Fantastic "SECONIC" L-358 Light Meter w/Pocket Wizard Transmitter Option. I won't get into the technical details since most any review you find will cover those but I'll simply use MY method of review which is the no nonsense straight worded type where I say YEA or NEA and what I like and dislike about a product. To start off this review I'll say you won't be hearing many CONS on this one so right off the bat I'm gonna tell you that I LOVE this lens !

Using the zoom it's action is smooth and positive in feel and so far shows no signs of 'zoom creep' at all. Holding it straight down to the ground it doesn't move which is a hug plus when taking close ups of ground flowers or off a mountain top to the trails below. The front element does not rotate when focusing or zooming in or out making it great for use with circular polarizer's and other filters that need to stay put. They great thing about this lens is that it gives you a constant f/2.8 Aperture across it's entire zoom length giving you fast glass no matter where you take this lens in it's zoom range, NICE!

The build is SOLID but not heavy made of some kind of high tech composite plastic material so it feels Dense without all the weight. It's well balanced and when mounted on my D300 makes the body feel like a precision instrument and not front heavy. I like the black coating finished with a gold ring which has the lens info printed on it.

This Tamron has it's own built in AF motor in it making it usable on camera's such as the Nikon D40 that do not have a lens AF motor built into the body. Some reviews I read stated that this lens is NOISY, I say it's not silent like a $1500 Nikon lens but it certainly isn't NOISY by any means and I kinda like the sound it makes to be quite honest. It's a smooth ZIP ZIP sound and lets you know it's working in my opinion. I can say that it wouldn't be a problem for most users and it certainly wouldn't be a deal breaker for 98.5 % of those wanting a great lens and a dynamite price if they had any sense to them.

The Auto Focus is fast and precise in day light and almost as fast in low light as long as your using the focus assist light on your camera. My copy did not need any fine tuning and had no back or forward focusing problems at all, I couldn't say that for all my $1000+ Nikon lenses I own! Bottom line is that I trust this puppy in any low light conditions for weddings & parties and will give you great shots of the dance floor using available light (which is what I love to shoot for creativity).

It's bokeh is very nice at f/2.8 and gives a nice DOF effect. When stopped down to f/5.6 you get a clear corner to corner sharpness and when I say SHARP I mean RAZOR SHARP. This glass is light years above what you should get for $449 and rivals the Nikon 50mm f/1.8 in many ways in my opinion. Everything I have shot with this lens so far has been incredibly sharp & in focus and to my surprise has a minimum focus range of just over 10" which is awesome for getting sharp close ups. Using the manual focus ring is precise and easy to use with it's rubber covered ribbed ring as well.

The lens is shipped with a nice bayonet "petal" type hood which keeps lens flare pretty much non exsistant when used properly and also comes with front & rear lens caps. One of my only CONS to this lens is that it doesn't come with a soft lens case. Pretty disappointing since my Tamron 90mm f/2.8 Di 1:1 Macro lens came with a beautiful Leather type soft case and I was expecting to have another one of those beauties in my bag next to it LOL. Since this is about the only Bad thing I can say about this lens I think we're doing pretty good wouldn't ya say ?

So in a nut shell I give this lens HIGH marks and would rate it a 9.5/10 across the board for Value, Sharpness, Build, Speed & Low Light performance. I just absolutely love it and very happy I added this to my gear bag, it's quickly becoming one of my favorite pieces of glass and for $449 from B&H Photo you can't possibly go wrong, this lens is a definite KEEPER in my book ! So if your looking for a great wide angle zoom for landscapes, portraits, indoor work and low light jobs gives this one a try, I bet you'll fall in love with it mighty quick !

* Comments & Questions Welcome *

~Bill Pador~

8/28/09

Bill is LIVE on TWITTER !!

6/19/09 -

COOL NEWS, Bill Pador has now caught up with the rest of the world and gone LIVE on TWITTER ! I’m not going to cover a lot of the basic stuff that’s floating around the internet but more of a ‘Why’ I Like or Dislike things about it.

As soon as my package arrived from B&H Photo I knew I had a different BEAST in my hands as far as flash units go. Everything you’ve read about this thing being HUGE is right on the money. It’s a Big boy and that’s no lie, even fellow photographers that have seen it on my camera have the same reaction which is “Wow what the heck is that, that thing is huge” But the good thing about this is that the old saying about “Bigger is Better” certainly pertains here. I’m not really one for reading manuals or directions with new toys because I like to jump right in to have fun but I thought it would be a good thing to flow over it real quick so that I could take advantage of all it’s new feature pack. As always Nikons manuals have some things to be desired and this one is no different. It’s not as bad as their camera manuals but I don’t think they are written ‘By Photographers – For Photographers’ and that’s one of only a few CONS I’ve found so far. The good thing is that even with the manual leaving you a little dizzy I still managed to get up & running in about 30 min. knowing much of what needed to be learned in order to get great results.

The first thing you’ll notice when you turn it on is that the whole user interface has been redesigned and in a Fantastic way for US as shooters “FINALLY” If you have a SB-600 or 800 Speedlight you know what I’m talking about when it comes to setting it up for a shot especially getting to the wireless remote iTTL slave or master settings. This thing is a dream come true because Nikon used a SINGLE 3 way throw switch allowing us to access all those settings with a quick flip of that switch. Toggle position #1 is your basic ON , 2nd position puts you in REMOTE and the 3rd into MASTER. OUTSTANDING idea and it works perfectly for quick selections for any set up you need. The menu system for selecting all of your accessory settings is also been revamped with Nikon using a cool Spin WHEEL and ‘OK’ Button to whiz right through all of your selections for everything from manual zoom to setting how much contrast you like on your LCD panel. It works well in the field and is a dream to use now so say good bye to those frustrating moments when time is pressed at a wedding and you need to change from your flash being a master unit in the hot shoe and then needing to set up for off camera wireless iTTL. What this also means is that setting up multiple flashes into firing groups is a snap and it works with very little effort by the shooter. I give the new menu & control design an A+ 10/10 !

One of the cool things is the light now zooms to a massive distance 200mm and along with that feature Nikon combines it with 3 options of light concentration & SHAPE of light it puts out. You have the choice of ‘Standard’ which is an overall spread of light, ‘Even’ which spread it out & up for a wider flow and then ‘Center Weight’ which is a zoomed super concentrated BEAM like a Spot Light, all with the ability to toss that light at a zoom rate to 200mm,VERY COOL !

To further make those choices even better is the fact that the head now rotates 180’ BOTH WAYS so no matter where your light is located off camera you can turn the head & body to allow the wireless sensor that’s located on the right side to be aimed AT the camera for a much better line of site to the flash allowing you to shoot in any conditions without worrying about the light not firing, yes VERY COOL and it works like a charm. I’ve tried to FOOL the flash in all kinds of conditions indoors & out under bright light and total darkness and I haven’t been able to screw a shot up on purpose yet, it fires every time and for a photographer in the field knowing that you may only get one shot at that special moment is a blessing not having to worry about that any more. Now calling it a SPEEDLIGHT is true to form because this puppy recycles FAST ! Nikon rates it at 2.3 seconds at full power using the recommended Nimh batteries or down to 1 second using the optional SD-9 high performance battery pack, WOW! For most of us that 2.3 seconds is plenty and I’ve found that using Duracell 2650mAh or Energizer 2500-2600mAh rated rechargeable AA’s gives you plenty of juice to perform at those speeds and I’ve been averaging between 175-225 shots on a set with steady recycle times before I needed to change them out for a fresh set when they started to gas out a bit. I could probably get another 50+ shots on the set but recycle times were starting to get into the 4+ seconds to come back online and I figure why kill yourself when a fresh set will get you flying again. The battery door even feels more solid built for professional use now, another check in the plus column where Nikon improved on the SMALL things.

Talking about the small things, I like the way the case is designed as well. You can now carry all of your accessories in one place, it comes with 4 gels in a plastic book type sleeve that fits in a slip pocket on the inside of the case, the foot stand goes in an outside pocket and the included diffuser dome & gel holder fit nicely in a zippered compartment on the BOTTOM of the case. These little, but very functional changes show that Nikon really took the shooters needs into account while designing the SB-900 from top to bottom and makes it a pleasure to carry & use now.

OK enough of that stuff, you’ve probably read about all the other small changes somewhere else by now so I’ll get to the juicy facts about its use in the field and the results it’s given me since I started using it. I started out shooting with it mounted in the hot shoe on a tuff lighting shot and that being capturing my Black cat indoors. Usually trying to meter a shot on a black animal indoors is a challenging one for any camera / flash set up. You can usually bet on an under exposed image the first shot and then after some EV or Exposure corrections you’ll get a slightly over exposed image while banging your face against the wall hoping that the next one will be on the money before your pet decides to take off for the litter box without the capture. Not so with the SB-900, I set it to iTTL Balanced High Sync (TTL-BL-FP), took a Matrix Meter and fired it off and to my amazement I got a perfectly exposed shot the very FIRST FRAME! You could see all the detail in his black coat along with the white on his chest & belly. The histogram reading was right on the money and I walked away knowing that I had in my hands a REAL high tech FLASH Unit! Bingo, score another one for Nikon !

I then went outside to start shooting some landscape shots of my yard with the trees being back lit by the bright 1pm sun. Using the flash as a fill to see if it could bring out the detail in the tree bark from approx. 30’ away again it was right on the money with the shot being perfectly lit without it looking like it was filled with flash but more of a natural light. I then backed up to about 50’, took the same shot and again the tree bark was in full contrast, lit nice & even without over exposure or harsh light or shadow traces, Sweet ! Next test went off camera using my trusty Tamron 90mm Macro lens for some up close & personal shots of my thorn bushes that had been rained on all day. Set up of the SB-900 in iTTL Slave mode was a snap and it was ready to go in Group A Channel 1 in less then 5 seconds, then setting my Nikon D300 up in Commander mode as the Master / Trigger unit in another 5 seconds, ready to fire ! With the flash set up under & to the right of the camera I fired off a few frames and checked the LCD, the macros came out exposed correctly the first time around with awesome color & detail on the vines and the reflection in the water drops it were perfectly exposed with no remnants of flash being used. This was a test I was looking forward to and hoping that it would give me good results, I didn’t have to pray any longer. I got the results I was hoping for and I couldn’t have been happier.

The next test I wanted to see how fast & accurate the SB-900 would be as an on camera Master unit triggering my SB-600off camera. Again s few seconds to flip the switch into Master mode and I was ready to go. It took me 3 times that to get my 600 ready for the shot and was immediately reminded as to how much better the menu settings were on the new flagship unit I now adored. Some of the other things I tried were some portrait work on my daughter, perfect results were had again. The light was very soft & natural looking not harsh or bright and I also used it in a 2 light combination with my 600 to light up some incense smoke shots for the smoke art I create, results were an outstanding PERFECT allowing me to create some really cool art pieces perfectly lit with little to no effort required on my part because it allows you to concentrate on the shot instead of the settings or getting it to that perfect light your looking for, it basically does it for you with a few clicks of the adjustment wheel, press of the mode button or a combination of both. The built in wide angle flap and bounce card slide out with ease and work very well. The feel of the bounce card is really nice & flexible relieving the stress of possibly breaking it off while using it. It has the flexible properties of a plastic coated playing card IMO and pops right back into place if you bend it and let it go, Booing ! The provided diffuser cone snaps into place with ease as does the gel holder, which is also a very cool piece of gear I haven’t mentioned yet. The gel holder has a really cool new sensor system built right onto each gel card using a series of white squares that the flash uses to read like a UPC code and AUTOMATICALLY adjusts your cameras white balance to the chosen gel according to the code (* if your using one of Nikons modern camera bodies like the D300-D700-D3-D3x etc.) This is another feature that Nikon must have thought out for the professional photographer in the field that really comes in handy, score 2 points with a slam dunk on that one for Nikon !

For off camera mounting you can use the included FOOT STAND which has a standard tripod thread on the bottom so you can mount it on your tripod along with setting it on a table or floor. This is where I have a TINY complaint though, with the SB-600 & 800’s in the past the stand provided a 3 way mounting position where you could slide the flash in from the back and both sides, the new one is only a rear loader that provides less flexibility to place your stand in odd positions but again this is only a small complaint and if you have a 600 or 800 stand you can still use those if you’d like. You can ever buy a replacement stand from Nikon for about $15 I believe if it bothers you that much. Not a big deal but just something I thought I would mention. It does hold the flash unit tightly and allows for a firm foot print when placing it down on the floor.

Now I have read on many reviews that folks were complaining about the unit over heating and that had been one of my concerns when I was thinking about my purchase because of those reviews. You know what they say “You can’t believe every thing you read” and this holds true here SO FAR. I put the SB-900 through a series of high speed / high frame rate repeating flash situations TRYING to heat up the unit and trigger the built in heat warning, *Oh yes this baby comes with a built in thermometer / sensor and protection feature right on the face of your display so you know when the heat is building up and the unit needs to take a break, how cool is that? So anyway I TRIED to heat the SB900 up shooting full power repeating mode using a setting of 4 FPS in 20 frame brackets, go ahead ask me if it over heated – The answer is a comfortable & respectable “NO”! Not even close, the thermometer never reached past half way up and then quickly fell back into the normal position stating that it was cool enough to keep firing without any danger to the unit and it performed flawlessly. In the menu system you have the option to turn the heating warning OFF, why you would want to do that and possibly risk blowing up a US$450.00 piece of gear up is beyond me but for those looking for a thrill you can turn it off. The warning system enables the unit to automatically shut down and not allow firing if it reaches dangerous tempitures to the bulb element until it cools down, where the manual recommends a 10 min. cooling off period IF you reach those temps somehow. I believe since the initial release of the 900 when all these reviews that contained the heat issue last year it has since been rectified by Nikon through a Firmware update to version 5.002.

Speaking of Firmware (how cool was that transition in the story to this huh ? LOL) The 900 allows you to upgrade the software/firmware in it in the same simple manner that you upgrade your D300-700-D3 etc. through the use of a small file download off Nikons website, transferring it to the root folder/directory of a Nikon formatted CF memory card (any you’re your camera is set to use already) and choosing the Firmware selection in the shooting menu on your camera. The camera automatically senses the new firmware version upgrade on the card at that point and all you do is hit UPGRADE & CONFIRM. The 900 is now up to snuff with the latest software in less then 20 seconds or so and then you just format your CF card in camera and you’re ready to shoot again. The firmware fix a few things, the list can be found on Nikons website so I won’t go into that for now. I will tell you that my 900 shipped with version 5.001 in it so I did require the upgrade so be sure to check your units version when you receive it to assure you have the newest version. Even though the upgrades been out for a while my unit still needed it. Rumors floating around is that there is another upgrade due out soon to enhance the flash once again but I can’t confirm that at this point nor do I have any idea WHAT it will fix / enhance.

Some other little / big things I liked I should mention, the sheer Speed Performance of this light is incredible, most reviews along with Nikons specs state a 50-100% boost in recycle speed over the SB-800 which I will agree with and this being with only 4 batteries Vs. the 5 battery set up in the 800 and if you need more speed you can always buy the Nikon SD-9 High Performance battery pack giving you a 1 second recycle rate, now that’s FAST! But for the additional $190 price tag I think I’ll pass on that for now since I don’t require that kind of recycle time with my normal working conditions & can’t justify the cost. Not for nothing, come on Nikon, $190 for a battery pack? I personally think this is a little over board for a battery but I guess Nikon feels that if you want the extra speed and need it for your work style you’ll pay it since you can’t get a comparable unit through 3rd party battery makers YET. Once a 3rd party distributor develops one I’m hoping the price would come down a bit to a more reasonable price of say $100-$125 which I find more reasonable, tasteful & easier to swallow.

Also the provided diffuser has been improved over the 800’s and gives you a nice even flow of light and seems to distribute it perfectly according to the beam pattern you have chosen to use. You can really reach out even with the diffuser on when cranking the zoom out to 200mm & choosing the Center Weight option where it gives you a concentrated BEAM of light like a Spot light bulb. The coolest things about the software is not only the menu set up, ease of use and performance but the selections you have available to include setting up a MY MENU favorites like your camera body where you can select your most used features, add them to the list and not have to go through unnecessary items to get to your selections faster. Items that are a one time set & forget feature like the choice to set for FX or DX sensored bodies (yup it’s ready for that too in order to maximize the proper coverage of the light source) you can leave that off your menu unless you use both a FX & DX body, but you can Manually choose this OR set it to Auto and let the flash choose it according to the body being used through it’s auto detection system, pretty cool right ? You also have the option to choose your ISO or leave it on auto, Aperture Priority Mode, Distance Priority Mode, Manual 1:1 – 1:2 mode, Manual or Auto Zoom, Standby Timer option for the unit to set it self to from 30 seconds down to 4 seconds – Auto or Off so it stays alive and ready to rock & roll. It has a quick 2 button reset function to bring everything back to factory defaults, a 2 button lock system to secure your settings no matter what is touched until unlocked, Repeating Flash mode and a few others. A small note is that not every function in the menu is allowed to be switched out of the MY MENU option but these are functions you need to have anyway in order to operate the unit.

Another cool thing is the Head Tilt directional display on the LCD where it SHOWS you if your head is pointing straight forward, to the side, up above level & even DOWN to the -7’ tilt for close up or macro work along with the chosen BEAM of EVEN, STANDARD or CENTER WEIGHT – Very Cool & Thoughtful designing ! Setting any needed flash EV Compensation is a snap using a single button or the FLY WHEEL as I call it, because you can FLY through any settings you need in a snap, where that same wheel allows you to change just about everything in the menu within SECONDS and with a little practice you could even make changes with your left finger and keep shooting with your right, THAT’S how “EASY” the menu system design is now which is pretty much my favorite upgrade on the SB-900 as a whole.

Bill's Ratings

- FINAL NOTES / GRADE –

/ / / /_____PROS____\ \ \ \

*In My Opinion the SB-900 is by far the BEST Speedlight Nikon has ever built and certainly earned the titling of its FLAGSHIP Flash Unit.

*The Controls, Menu & Interface are also the BEST Nikon has ever developed, very simple to understand, EASY & LIGHTNING FAST to use and in my professional opinion NAILED the whole Control system to the wall with a 10/10 A+ Grade!

The ability to control the light concentration beam and zoom out to 200mm is fantastic advance and very useful feature

Nikons Legendary iTTL WIRELESS Control system eliminating the need for optional pocket wizards or other like triggering devices

Clean, Well Laid Out & Packed full of information LCD

Tons of selectable features making this a truly customizable unit

Outstanding Sensor & Communication to the camera body & Lens for Correct Exposure when using it on Automatic

/ / / /____CONS____\ \ \ \

. . . . Not Many Cons but it’s larger size does take some getting used to but it’s cool to have the BIGEST “UNIT” on the block next to your photo colleges ! You’ll certainly need to rearrange your gear bag to make room for this puppy. . . .

. . . . I Wish they provided more then the 4 BASIC Gels for Florescent & Incandescent lighting correction, maybe a few colored gels for creativity would have been nice instead of cheeping out on a few plastic gel pieces which would have made us customers happy campers especially after plunking down that $450 bucks! A few more Gels & a slightly LOWER Price Tag of $375-$395.00 would have bumped my VALUE rating to 5 Stars. . . .

. . . . Making the Tripod / Foot Stand holder using a PLASTIC thread instead of metal lined one that even the SB600 came with and the lack of the 3 Directional mounting slots kind of angered me a little, this along with the up & down head swivel gearing feels a little cheap and plasticy and the pop out diffuser is also cheap feeling & has too much play for my taste. These small fixes would have bumped my build rating up to 5 Stars without a doubt. . . .

. . . . Lastly not directly concerned with original performance but charging almost $200 for a battery pack is simply crazy Nikon, to jam it up the consumers back side for a battery is not justifiable from my stand point, I could replace my car battery almost 3 times for that! This is also another reason why my Accessorie rating is only 3 Stars. . . .

That’s about it folks, The SB-900 IS EVERYTHING it’s advertised as and much much more IMO, if your thinking about an Upgrade from a SB-600 or 800 or even buying your 1st flash unit this is THE unit you’ll want, don’t skimp on a 600 (since the 800 has been discontinued) if you can afford the price tag because you won’t need to upgrade for a very long time and you'll have top of the line gear. My dad always said “Son, If you buy the BEST the first time around, you’ll never be disappointed” and that couldn’t be better said about the SB-900. I arrived around 5:20am because I checked the weather report & I wanted to take advantage of the clear weather expected and the Sunrise that comes with it. If you've never been in NY City when the sun comes up it's an incredible experience to say the least. Everything is dark, quiet & peaceful and as the sun rises the city comes alive with magnificent color, light & energy. The temperature was 2'F, the air was crisp and I was EXCITED to be there!

I spent my time in the darkness to ready my body & equipment for the cold and the story I was covering. At these temperatures batteries take the most beating so I had brought 6 camera batteries & 3 sets of (8) AA's for my MD10 battery pack, good thing I did because I used MOST of them before the day was over. I started walking around the site and taking in the scenery along with introducing myself to several of the police officers guarding the area. After identifying myself to the outer perimeter cops as a retired officer I was allowed to enter the area with a premium parking space only 50' from the plane! I'd like to thank ALL the NY City Police officers who I met yesterday; they were a fantastic group of professionals and treated me with a great deal of respect & allowed me to roam anywhere I wanted as long as the area was safe.

I started shooting some night scenes of the city & surrounding area along with Jersey City which is a stones throw across the river. I found a lot of cool buildings to shoot, art forms, boats etc. After about 90 minutes or so of walking around I had to make a trip back to the car to warm up and dump some of the heavy gear I was toting around. I was frozen to the bone and needed some warm coffee, something to eat and HEAT! I started tearing opening & activating some of my hand toe warmer pads, stuffing them in my gloves, socks, pockets well everywhere LOL. This routine took place about every 60 minutes or less for the 12 hours I was there. I went through an entire case of 24 hand warmers & 3 sets of toes warmers but they were a life saver and without them I would have never made it.

The NYPD officers allowed me entry into the press pool & both press boxs which had the best vantage point to photograph the event but unfortunately after 12.5 hours of waiting my body had enough & was giving out on me. My back was in terrible pain and there was still no idea of when they would pull the plane out since the time had been pushed back every hour from 10am to 11 to 12 and so on and at 5pm they didn't know if they would complete it at all Saturday because the plane had filled with ice flow that had gathered at the shore line and now weighed over 1,000,000 pounds !!! Yes 1 MILLION pounds of total weight those 2 huge cranes had to pull out of the river. In the end I watched it on the news at MIDNIGHT when they finally got it out and loaded it onto the barge. I would have never made it another 7 hours plus I ran out of hand/feet warmers and had no winter long johns on my legs.

I had a 'Fantastic' time, met, hung out & talked with a LOT of wonderful emergency workers, photographers from around the world & every agency you could think of like the NY POST, ASSOCIATED PRESS, USA TODAY, TIME MAGAZINE, News anchors from ABC, NBC, CBS, FOX, CNN, MSNBC and got some really great shots to boot!. A HUGE Thanks You to all the Great Professional NYPD Officers for granting me ALL ACCESS to the crash site, Stay Safe Brothers !!

The Full Gallery of Images shot can be seen here http://billpador.smugmug.com/gallery/7127737_aMMBQ/1/457123150_8kCRE

Thanks & Enjoy!~Bill~

Fashion Show Booked

"Fashion Show Week"

I finalized the booking as the exclusive photographer of the Jefferson Township High School Charity Fashion Show for the 2nd year in a row so I'll be shooting that the 1st weekend of February. Last year was a lot of fun (*see blog entry February '08) and I was really surprised at how well the kids acted & responded to being photographed. In my experience teenagers are not the easiest models to deal with because they just don't want to be bothered but every single youngster was cooperative and listened to direction very well along with actually having FUN with it. So needless to say I'm looking forward to this event once again and hopefully can make some new friends along the way.

Well the last week has been a lot of fun photography wise around here. We've had a snow storm and 2 ice storms in the last week enabling me to get some fantastic macro shots during the ice storm, the images can be seen in my Weather Gallery located in the Landscape Section of my web site. I fired up the Nikon D300 with one of my favorite lenses the Tamron 90mm f/2.8 Di 1:1 Macro and headed out into the frozen world around me. I didn't have to go far to get the shots I wanted (how's the front yard sound) and since it was so cold I didn't want to travel any farther LOL.

I spent a lot of time snow blowing my drive & walk way because mother natures is hammering the East Coast this year with the white stuff but I guess we were due for a heavy winter since the last few have been kind of mild. For me winter is hit or miss for landscape shooting because I prefer warmer weather with more color in the mountains so I can go hiking & free my mind while I do what I do best, shooting 1000's of frames a week. But I can't say winter is all bad because I do develop new techniques in the digital dark room with all my free time and have fun in the Still Life Studio, so all is not lost. I'm still counting the days till spring though, for me it can't come fast enough!

I've got my entry in for the '2008 Photograph of the Year' contest over at photographycorner.com for the 3rd year in a row and hopefully I can place in the top 10 to win some really cool prizes and get my work out in the public eye across the globe again. It's a tough competition with lots of great artists entering so I have my work cut out for me but I have a great entry this year and that's this portrait of my youngest daughter that I shot on a whim one late afternoon in my living room and it has been the #1 rated image on my web site since the day I posted it rated by my visitors, fans and fellow artists. I just happened to come up out of my studio for a break and to look outside to see if we were going to have a photo op on the sunset and this awesome ray of light coming through the front window caught my eye. So I made my daughter get up off the couch for a couple quick shots with her staring out the window. It was shot in all natural light and the glare coming off her beautiful green/blue eyes was just awesome. The only thing I regret is being lazy and shooting it with my basic all around Nikkor 18-200mm VR lens instead of swapping it our for my 50mm f/1.8 or f/1.4 portrait lens or even the Tamron 90mm f/2.8 Di lens, all 3 would have been a much better choice in glass and given me a sharper image BUT I was very surprised at the clear, sharp & crisp shot I pulled off with the 18-200mm which is not known for it's portrait work. If I remember correctly I set it at 105mm which is a length where it shines so I guess I shouldn't cry about it. Maybe it was meant to be because it's become one of my All Time Favorite captures I've taken in 30+ years behind the lens. It's just a very special image for me and just happens to be of my lovely daughter who is also one of my favorite models because she's so beautiful & cooperative when asked to photograph her. OK so I'm a little biased being her dad but the stats don't lie on the web site and it's popularity among other photographers let me know that was my entry for this years contest. I'm keeping my fingers crossed and now I'll just have to wait to see what happens when the voting starts tomorrow on 1/14/09.

If you want to vote for my image, please sign up at www.photographycorner.com and make at least 5 posts in the forums to be eligible to vote. Communicating what I as an artist wants to via images in B&W is much tougher then when we use color and you enter a whole new world without color. Controlling the mood and message is so much more interesting when you have to do it in B&W so I figured I would share this world in one place for you to enjoy. So feel free to click on this link www.billpador.smugmug.com/photography and enter the new B&W gallery to view the images. I'll be adding to it quite often until I have my full collection in there which will take some time as it's quite large at this point in my life but will be well worth the visit. Many great things have occurred for me in 2008 and I am looking forward to the continued growth & success of Bill Pador Photography for the coming year. I've enjoyed many of my images being published, chosen as winners in various contest through out the world, chosen as Editors Picks on some great web sites like http://www.photo.net/ http://www.webshots.com/ along with magazines like Outdoor Photographer choosing my images as winners & finalists. More importantly I have shot some great events, parties, weddings & portraits for some of the best clients a photographer could work for, what more could an artist ask for during a years time.

I've also enjoyed the huge growth of my web site and the many visitors I receive each & every day to check out my Photo of The Day project along with the wonderful comments I receive on my works. Thank You ALL for your support, it means a lot to me!

"ATTENTION Nikon D300 & D3 OWNERS"

An IMPORTANT side note to all U.S.A. Nikon D300 & D3 Owners, if you were not aware Nikon has just released Brand New FIRMWARE Updates to both camera bodies that fix or upgrade many issues along with adding on some great software to your cameras (*release date 12-16-08). The D300 has been upgraded to version 1.10 on both the A & B channels and the D3 was upgraded to version 2.0 on both as well. Some of the more important fixes were to the Auto Focus system making it BLAZING fast to set & lock on especially in the 51 point area and in low light. they added a new built in Copyright box to embed your copyright information in the EXIF. ISO sensitivity settings in the menu can now be taken up to 1 sec. to 1/4000 instead of the lame 1/250 it was before. The focus acquisition performance in the Dynamic & Contrast modes has been improved dramatically and to top it all off the Auto White Balance is now pretty much dead on instead of having a yellow hue that was sometimes seen. Much more has been added so for the full listing of improvements and the firmware Make sure you head to http://www.nikon.com/ for your FREE firmware upgrade now, it's well worth the download !!

Best Regards,

Bill Pador

OUTDOOT PHOTOGRAPHERS MAGAZINE

"I'M A FINALIST IN 'OUTDOOR PHOTOGRAPHERS' MAGAZINE PHOTO CONTEST"

- Dec 8, 2008

I recently entered the 'OUTDOOR PHOTOGRAPHER' Magazine's national photo contest 'NATURES COLORS' back in November and was very excited when I was notified that my image titled "LAKE SIDE AUTUMN COLORS" (*see above) was choosen by the editors as one of the FINALISTS after being picked from over 8,600+ submissions (to date their largest contest ever according to their web site). What an honor to be choosen from so many great photographs & so many talented artists & make it as a finalist. The winner will be published in the March '09 issue of the magazine along with winning some great prizes like a Nikon D300 (I could always use another back-up) and some other great stuff. I was also entered into their secondary part of the contest being the 'Peoples Choice Award' where the public was able to vote on their favorite shot. You can see my photo along with the other finalist by clicking Here :http://www2.outdoorphotographer.com/colors/finalists_gallery.php

The contest is coming to an end soon and hopefully I'll be notified that I either won or took 1st-2nd or 3rd runner up which would be awesome. I just wanted to thank all the great people who took the time to place a vote for me during the Peoples Choice Award section. All I can do now is cross my fingers and hope for the best. I'll let you all know what the out come is as soon as I know!

Best Regards,

Bill Pador

www.billpador.com

A Great Website for First Responders

I joined the Emergency & Disater Responders web site today, seems like I just can't get away from my roots as a retired cop LOL Check it out if you have a chance!

On Location with the Band "DEVIL YOU KNOW"

"COMMISSIONED FOR ROCK BAND SHOOT"

- Oct. 4, 2008

A few weeks prior I was contacted by the New Jersey rock band 'Devil You Know' and was commissioned to shoot their press kit, promotional & web site images. We planned out a half day photo shoot on location at 2 different sites.. The shoot began at the new North Arlington train station where I did some cover material and artistic shots. Then we headed off to location #2 in West Milford to an abandoned train station for various group shots & portraits.

The weather started off grey, cloudy & raining and I thought to myself "Oh here we go" but with a little praying and a half dozen White Castle jalapeno cheese burgers & and order of clam strips I had for BREAKFAST the weather started to clear up just as my clients arrived. It couldn't have worked out any better because the awesome cloud cover in the sky offered some really great contrast for the outdoor shots which worked out well.

The guys of the band were really incredible to work with and listened to direction like pros. The set was full of light hearted fun, with jokes flying left & right and the occasional person staring as they walked by trying to figure out what was going on. By the time we got to site #2 the weather had broken & the sun was shining bright and strong. I started shooting the guys on some old train cars left behind at the train station, by the old train building and on the tracks. I had some wonderful light going, a bit harsh but since it was still low in the sky I was able to grab some nice shadowing effects as long as I had the guys facing north west or south west.

All in all it was a fantastic & incredibly FUN day and the images I managed to captured were just fantastic. I was so very happy with the out come and I could tell my clients were more then satisfied with my work especially from very much appreciated gratuity they handed me after the shoot was over and the very kind words they gave me. They said they had a great time and that their images far exceeded their expectations which was very flattering to me. If you have a few minutes why don't you swing on over to the Devil You Know web site for some information on the band and check out the super cool video 'webisode' they created from video tape they shot during the photo shoot and see me in action @ http://www.devilyouknow.tv/webisodenew.htm and also see their blog entry about me & the shoot located @http://www.devilyouknow.tv/index2.htm

The band members are:
Philip Salveggi – vocals

Scott Montague – guitars

Bobby Turano – guitars

Phil Fragale – bass

Dave Troncone – drums

*If your ever in North Jersey or New York State check these guys out and tell them their official band photographer, Bill says hello. I'm sure they would appreciate a few new fans, they really rock! While visiting their web sites http://www.devilyouknow.tv/ & www.myspace.com/devilyouknowtv listen to some of their demo songs to see what I mean and if your in the market for a band for your next event, give them a call and see if they rock your world too. Drop them a note and tell them Bill Pador sent you !

To see the entire gallery from the photo shoot slide on over to my site here: http://www.billpador.smugmug.com/Portraits and click on the DEVIL YOU KNOW gallery !

"A PERSONAL NOTE TO DEVIL YOU KNOW"

"Thanks for a wonderful photo shoot guys, it's always a pleasure to
shoot clients who like to have fun & can follow any direction I give them. I was notified this morning that my image 'THE STEAMING TEA POT' was chosen as the 'PHOTO OF THE DAY' today over at 'WEBSHOTS.com' one of the Internets premier photography sites. It's an honor to be chosen over there and to be picked out of over 539 MILLION photos posted on the site it's also shocking that they even know who I am LOL.

This just tops off a great month I've been having because another one of my images 'GRADUATION DAY' was given the EDITORS CHOICE AWARD at Photo.net a few weeks ago, several of my huge Black Bear photos were published in the local AimJefferson News Paper and I presently have 4 images listed as the GREATEST NEW JERSEY Photos over at the 'GREAT DESTINATIONS NJ' contest sponsored by the Newark Star Ledger.

It's been a GREAT MONTH for me and I hope to continue winning all these awards because it show me that I'm doing my job & my career to the best of my ability and being recognized for my efforts by my peers, the public & my clients is what I strive for everyday.

Thanks to everyone who supports my work & art !

'Digital SLR SENSOR Cleaning Method"

Saving time & money is easy if you Clean your own D-SLR Sensor

. . . Read On

I was recently asked how I go about cleaning the sensor (low pass filter) on my D-SLR's so I thought I would write a quick tutorial on the method I use since it's simple, quick & cost effective. Here is my method in layman's terms . . .

'DISCLAIMER'
* Please be advised that this is for educational purposes only, it's not difficult by any means nor is it rocket science but I do not recommend doing this yourself if you do not feel comfortable in your abilities around sensitive equipment or not having the proper cleaning equipment. If you have confidence in your abilities after reading this and would like to try it be my guest I can't nor would I try to stop you. Using this method is a snap and will save you not only time & money but you will always have images clean of any dust & dirt spots without having to take your camera out of service to send it in to the manufacture or shop at an average of $70+ PER cleaning and 1-2 weeks without your gear. If after you read this article & you feel confident, you'll be cleaning your sensor in less the 10 minutes or less. If not please continue to send it to a professional for cleaning & service. I'm a professional photographer NOT a certified technician and I'm only providing you with this information for educational purposes ONLY, I'm warning you straight out if done incorrectly you can cause severe damage to your equipment and it will be pricey to have repaired. If you choose to try cleaning your sensor after reading this you are doing it AT YOUR OWN RISK and I DO NOT accept any responsibility or LIABILITY for any damage that may occur! So don't be sending me your email's saying I didn't warn you. I'm not trying to scare you, I'm just trying to be honest (and cover my ass). So Please read through this entire article at least once before attempting this on your own so you have an idea of what I'm talking about.

One of the main reasons why I like this method is that it's cheap, quick (less then 10 minutes from start to finish) and can be done at home, in the studio or in the field. There are many methods available you can use to clean the sensor but I use this on a weekly (sometimes daily) basis depending on how dirty / dusty of an environment I'm working in and it hasn't failed me YET. No matter how careful you are in the field swapping lenses your bound to get dust on the sensor sooner or later. Having dust spots on your images is not only ugly but as someone who makes a living shooting 100's of images a week it is very costly to me in time fixing images or tossing them in the trash bin. So if your ready, read on & off we go to a quick efficient way to clean set of images free of foreign matter !

WHAT YOU WILL NEED:

* Proper Size Sensor Wand for your model
* PEC PADS
* ROCKET BLOWER (or simular air blower) *DO NOT USE CANNED AIR!
* ECLIPSE "E2" Sensor Cleaning Fluid
* Scotch Tape
* Steady Hands

Listen, there are other BRANDS that may be cheaper out there of cleaners, blowers and cleaning cloth material I listed, but I use these because their PROVEN to work correctly & won't harm your equipment when used properly along with being the stuff professional shops & manufactures use (hey if it's good enough for them then that's what I wanna use on my pricey gear right?) I don't make any money from selling this stuff nor do I have any affiliation with the companies who do. Most if not all can be purchased at your local camera store and on the Internet.

First read your cameras manual and learn how to engage the MIRROR UP function. The mirror has to be out of the way in order to get to your 'low pass filter' (from here on in I'll be calling it the SENSOR. Be sure to have a FULLY Charged battery so that your body doesn't loose power in the middle of cleaning as this can cause severe damage to your equipment. I know my Nikon's will not even allow you to raise the mirror without having at least a 3/4 charge on the battery for this specific safety reason so you know it must be important right!

PREPPING YOUR SENSOR WAND:

PEC PADS: Are Top of the line Non-Abrasive Wipes which are 99.999% Free of Contaminates,Lint Free & Ultra Soft (BTW they are Great for cleaning lenses, binoculars and cell phone screens too!)

Take a PEC*PAD and hold it in your weak hand or lay it on a CLEAN surface (I like to use a fresh coated paper plate). Lay the Sensor wand in the middle of the Pec Pad (as shown)

Now fold the other half over the tip of the wand so that 50% of the Pec Pad is on top and 50% on the bottom *as shown*

Now fold one side downward at an angle away from the tip

Doing the same thing fold the remaining side over the first flap at an angle and then continue to wrap it around the sensor wand stick until all the excess wrapped tight around it. You only want the single layer of Pec Pad on the tip for cleaning purposes. This allows it to lay flat for even contact with the sensor as well.

Take a small piece of scotch tape placing it around the Pec Pad and sensor wand to secure it to the base AWAY from the tip

Your ready to start !

Remove your lens and put the mirror up. Once the mirror is out of the way, take your body in one hand holding the opening towards the ground and give it some good blasts with your blower to free any loose dust from the sensor and any floating around inside your body walls. Holding it upside down allows it to fall out instead of landing back on the sensor defeating the whole purpose of blowing it OUT.

Visually inspect the sensor under a strong light to see if you got all loose material and foreign matter off the sensor and ensure there is nothing inside the body that may cause damage while your cleaning like any bits of sand or hard dirt you may have in their which will cause SEVERE damage to your sensor if not removed before swiping the sensor & you will kick yourself VERY HARD for not taking the extra few seconds to visually check it before you clean, that I can PROMISE YOU!

OK if it's clear it's time for the scary stuff, place a few drops (2-3 ONLY) of ECLIPSE E2 on the tip of the sensor wand and head for the sensor. You have to be quick on this step because the E2 dries / evaporates VERY fast and you don't want to be dragging it across the sensor when it's dry. Not only because you cause scratch the sensor causing major damage but any oils or matter on the sensor will be smeared across it making it much harder to clean properly. You want the sensor wand to make one continuous stroke from one side of the sensor to the other. This prevents having any dust from get caught or gathering in the middle of the sensor. Place it FLAT & tilted on the angle the wand is cut to and pull it across using a small but even amount of pressure until you reach the end. Now tilt the wand to the oppisite side & make a second pass starting from the opposite side of the sensor straight across to the edge once again, lift it straight up away from the sensor and out of the body. Check your sensor under a bright light now to ensure you got all of the nasty dirt & dust spots off and YOUR DONE ! Make sure everything is out of the camera body and turn the power off to your camera to release the mirror back into possition. Pretty simple right?

NOTE:

Depending on how dirty it was you may have to make another pass or 2, but before you do add another drop or 2 of E2 on the wand, most of what you applied a few seconds ago will be dry already and you don't wanna drag a dry pad across the sensor face. Some even recommend changing the Pec Pad if you have to make another pass, that's up to you. If my sensor was really dirty I'll change it, if I was only cleaning a spot or 2 I'll leave it for another pass but certainly change it after 2 passes. Be sure not to add too much E2, you don't want the pad soaking wet or dripping, a little goes a long way and too much may drip down into the sensor and again your messing with fire. This stuff dries INCREDIBLY FAST (it's Ethanol) so once you apply it to your pad immediately make your cleaning pass. Oh also remember to take the E2 out of your gear bag before flying, it's not allowed on planes from what I have read.

I told you this isn't rocket science. It's just a little nerve racking the first few times thinking about how much it will cost you if you screw this up LOL. As long as you take your time and use common sense you should be just fine. After a few cleanings you'll be an old pro at this and it will become second nature with all the jitters gone and you'll realize that spending $70+ to have the same thing done by a shop or manufacture is just pure insanity and you'll wanna kick yourself for not learning how to do this a long time ago.

If you try this method feel free to leave a comment here for others to read, I'd like to know how you made out too ;)

Best Regards,
~Bill~

Great Destinations NJ Gallery Added

"Special Addition"

' GREAT DESTINATIONS NJ' Gallery Added

After receiving several requests for print sales on my images from the Great Destinations NJ contest entries I have posted a brand new gallery containing all of my contest images. But that is all going to change from this point forward.

Recently I've been shooting a lot of personal projects and creating some of my own techniques for doing things with some great results. Part of this is belonging to the Daily Photo Community on SmugMug (where I host my business web site) where you shoot a different photo every day and post it up for all to see & critique. This helps keep the creative mind sharp & always thinking in order to come up with bigger & better creations every day. It has really helped me stay sharp along with meeting a ton of wonderful people in the group who posses great photography skills which are shared among the group so that we all continue to learn and further our education on a daily basis.

Which brings me to the next thing, I have been getting a ton of email from other photographers asking me how I do certain things (which I'm more then happy to share) thus giving me the idea of creating a blog filled with How To's, Tips, Home DIY's and explaining HOW I created certain pieces of work so that you can learn something new as well. What I do is not a secret, but the result of reading EVERYTHING I can get my hands on about photography every day and combining & using the techniques I read about. Then I throw in my own little FLASH to a project to make it my own which creates a NEW Technique in a small way, but new/different non the less.

I will also be creating NEW CHALLENGES every week or so to test your ability to be creative within yourself. The Challenge instructions will be posted and then you will have 7-14 days to complete them and then email me your images. I will then create a Challenge Gallery on my site and everyone involved (along with the public) can vote on your images to see who wins BRAGGING RIGHTS for that particular Challenge. The winners will be posted here on my blog and I will conduct an INTERVIEW with the winner as to how they went about creating their master piece. I think this should be very interesting, fun and a great learning experience for all involved.

In order to keep up with what's going on here, I suggest you sign up for my new EMAIL LIST here on the Blog (just off on the right column). By signing up you will be notified via email every time I add something to my blog and it will give you a link back here so you can read it. Your email address will NOT be used for any other purposes other then to notify you of a new posting and I do NOT sell, Give Away or Spam your email in any way shape or form. I am a huge advocate of living Spam Free so believe me when I tell you your email info is safe here. My blog entries will also include when I add a new gallery to my site or something of interest to everyone.

So please sign up for the mailing list if your interested in learning something new, having some fun or just plain bored with your life like me and want to try different photography techniques. Please feel free to leave any comments or questions you have on this blog entry below!

Thanks for reading and I look forward to cranking this blog up to what I originally intended it to be!

PS: The above Gorilla image was shot at the Bronx Zoo in NY City on 7/5/08

Best Regards,

Bill

Project "HDR with Lensbaby 3G" Coming Soon !

I've purchased a Lensbabie 3G along with the Wide Angle / Macro kit recently and have taken on a project for myself to develop my own Signature Style of HDR (high dynamic range imaging) Photography. I figured with the wild results you can create with this lens along with using HDR Techniques I can format a pretty cool style of photography for myself to set me apart from everyone else out there. This will come in handy while doing Weddings & Portraits along with Landscape shots to create some pretty cool captures.

I have an idea in my head of what I want to accomplish now it's just implementing my plan and figuring out HOW to do what I have in my head. I have no doubt I'll be able to do it, it's just a matter of finding the TIME in between so many bookings this summer since business has been very brisk with Weddings, In Home Portrait Sessions and Parties lately. But hopefully when I complete this project I'll have a very unique HDR style that when it's seen folks will know who it was created by and automatically say "Oh that's a Bill Pador creation" just by looking at it! That's my goal and I want stop trying until I accomplish it.

I've gone ahead and gathered some of the finest software programs & plug in filters for CS3 to help in my venture. So far for the HDR flight, PhotoMatix & a new one called DYNAMIC PHOTO HDR found at http://www.mediachance.com/ have been a pleasure to use and I'm getting fantastic results from them. Especially DYNAMIC PHOTO HDR which has a really fantastic TONE MAPPING element that is exactly what I was looking for n terms of results. The photo at the top of this article was taken with my D300 using my Nikkor 18-200 VR lens and 5 bracketed frames with a -1 to +1 exposure step on a tripod in front of my house just to see what kind of results I could get with the Tone Mapper and as you can see the results can get pretty radical when used even on a simple photo. So hopefully once I get the Lensbabie 3G down I'll be able to utilize my skills and the new software to create works of art that set me apart from the rest of the photography world.

Well that's about it for today's entry, it's back to work and then some sleep. Have a great day all and I'll see you again soon. Remember, every photo is someones work of art, look at it and try to see what story the photographer is trying to tell because there is a story behind every photo and a memory to be shared with the world !

Tom & Courtney Wedding 4/25/08

Well I shot the Tom & Courtney's wedding last night and I must say it was a FUN wedding to shoot. Tom & Courtney gave me full artistic freedom to shoot it anyway I'd like and that is the BEST kind of client to have. Everything went smooth as ice and everyone was so nice to me, kinda made me feel like part of the family for the day which is always nice to have such a wonderful work environment. It was a LONG day starting at 11:30am and the shoot ran until midnight but in the end it was well worth it. I got some incredible shots and everyone was very cooperative to say the least. Grandma was so cute and funny more then the average grandma constantly joking around with me. The brides parents & sister were also wonderful people and made my job easy and fun.

The church ceremony went smooth but with the no flash restriction put on me by the church made things a little tough. I pulled out the Nikon 18-200 VR lens & my Prime 50mm f/1.8 fast lens for the low light conditions. The alter was huge and allowed for some interesting shots from the angle I grabbed with the tripod. They had some wonderful stained glass in the church and the gallery was full of people on both sides. The ring bearer & flower girl were very cute and I got some wonderful shots of them as well.

The reception was amazing, they had a great DJ with a fantastic lighting system that got me some great natural light shots while folks were dancing. The food was god and the Bride & Groom seemed to enjoy themselves a lot.

All in all a wonderful job and I'm very satisfied with the shots I got, one of my better weddings, very relaxing and having the freedom to shoot freestyle was a big bonus allowing me to get some really artistic shots that otherwise would not have been possible.

So Thanks to Toe & Courtney for a wonderful night and allowing me to shot MY style of wedding, hopefully you will enjoy your photos as much as I did shooting them !

~Bill~

My Review of SanDisk 4 GB Extreme III Compact Flash Memory Card.

Originally submitted at Adorama

SanDisk 4 GB Extreme III Compact Flash Memory Card.

SanDisk 4 GB Extreme III Compact Flash Memory Card.

Just Flawless !

By Bill P. from Oak Ridge, NJ on 3/14/2008

5out of 5

Pros: Reliable, Lightweight, Flawless Operation, Very Fast

Cons: No Cons

Best Uses: High Speed Burst

Describe Yourself: Professional

There's not much to say about this card that hasn't already been said somewhere, it's just a Flawless piece of high technology that is like the Energizer Bunny and Just Keeps Going & Going & Going ! As a Professional Photographer I own (5) of these & (2) 2GB Versions and I have yet to have a single problem complaint with this card. Using a Nikon D300 that takes advantage of the Read/Write speeds it just burns up the captures and keeps doing it day after day. If your using a ProSumer - Pro level camera and not using a minimum of an Extreme III card your missing out on the blazing speeds of this card and cheating yourself out of some pure joy, Nuff Said !

(legalese)

My Review of Tamrac CyberPack 8 Photo / Computer Backpack, for 17" Laptops, Black

Originally submitted at Adorama

Tamrac CyberPack 8 Photo / Computer Backpack, for 17" Laptops, Black

Tamrac CyberPack 8 Photo / Computer Backpack, for 17" Laptops, Black

Fantastic Bag

By Bill from Oak Ridge, NJ on 3/10/2008

5out of 5

Pros: Adjustable Harness, Comfortable, Easily Accessible Equipment, Strong Construction, Lightweight, Plenty of Room, Well Padded

Cons: None Found

Best Uses: Protecting Gear, Transporting Gear, Storing Gear

Describe Yourself: Professional

I searched high & low for a large bag that would hold several cameras, at least 6 lenses, a few flashes and all the other accessories & laptop I had. I took it on a wild life assignment and wore it for 6 hours without any problems. The body strap system holds it securely against your torso and makes for a very comfortable hike for hours on end. LOL I hope you have a few minutes to read this Blog entry, it’s a little long but a good read (I think). What a fun weekend I had working last Saturday night. I was hired to shoot the Jefferson Township High Schools “Project Graduation” Fashion Show which was a fund raiser for the graduating class of 2008. The show was titled “SOME ENCHANTED EVENING” and rightfully so. I started my day off by doing my routine gear & equipment check, charging batteries, formatting memory cards and setting up my custom shoot menus in my Nikon D300 & back-up body for the expected tricky low light shoot. Knowing that they would be using various colored lights from above and a strong spot light to illuminate the models had me a little nervous as to how I would go about choosing my settings to balance everything out to my liking. As I always do before a shoot, I try to map everything out in my head while the pencil jots notes down in my notebook as they flow through my head at lightning speed (well maybe not lightning, more like a snails pace) but LIGHTNING sounds so much more intriguing doesn’t it? LOL Well no matter how quickly it all came together really didn’t matter as long as I had my game plan together to make things roll smooth, I like smooth when I’m working, the more I feel comfortable with my game plan the less stress I have during the shoot which results in my having FUN which in turn results in great captures. It’s funny how things always work themselves out one way or another but they always do no matter how worried you are about a situation. My stress wasn’t coming from my gear or game plan it was coming from the thought of dealing with over 100 High School aged models whom for all intensive purposes have never modeled before, so I’m saying to myself “SELF” What have you gotten yourself into this time LOL. I had attended the dress rehearsal 2 days prior to get a feel of where they were going to be on the stage, take some light readings and get a general feel of the kids attitudes about modeling (especially the boys were worrying me for some unknown reason LOL). Well I must say I was truly “SURPRISED” at how well the kids behaved, listening intently to their director as she gave them their instructions. Then I started saying to myself “SELF” this might work out after all! When Saturday night came along I managed to get myself set up way ahead of schedule for the intermission SENIOR pictures where the kids would come into the library and just hang out with their friends and have a few relaxed photos taken together. I had left my tripods set up by the make shift back drop 2 very nice woman had set up for the pictures and had been told they would LINE up, come in with a friend or TWO, shoot the picture and go onto the next SMALL group. Yea right ! I’ll get back to that in a minute LOL The show started pretty much right on schedule and off I went doing my thing, I fired up the speed lights, took another light reading and got ready for action. The show went VERY smoothly from the get go (did I mention I LIKE “SMOOTH”?) Obviously someone (or multiples of some & one’s) had put a lot of time & effort into the planning of this event because it went as smooth as ice, unfortunately that hard, cold concrete floor I was kneeling on for 3.5 hours shooting over 600 photos was also as smooth, cold and HARD as Ice and what did I forget in my planning? My knee pads ! Can you say “OUCH”? Beside my 43 year old knees screaming for vengeance and yes my disability of having a few hundred thousand dollars worth of titanium hardware screwed into my lower spine reminding me every second that I’m not the same as I was say 8 years ago before my injury I was having a BLAST ! I mean I truly had a smile from ear to ear while firing off shot after shot on my D300, following the models across the stage and back again waiting for those precious milli-seconds when they turn and their hair and dress glide with the self generated breeze to capture the golden moment we pray for. My timing was dead on that night even as the agony of defeat reminded me of those forgotten knee pads, jeez I sure wish I would have remembered my safety gear. Now onto the meat & potatoes of my story. As the only official photographer in the house (or so I thought) I had the run of the floor and boy that floor ran me but good. At some point during the first half of the show I got a tap on the shoulder from a nice young lady holding what I think was a CANON ( 1st thought – ENEMY) LOL almost like seeing an insurgent with that pesky AK47 on the opposite side of the battlefield for the first time. She politely asked me if I could reposition myself back & over because she was taking photos for the schools year book from the front row dead center seat. My first thought is “Oh boy, I HAD – *PRIME* Real estate and I just lost it” and my second thought is “Wow it must be nice to be able to sit comfortably in a seat and take unobstructed pictures at center stage” LOL. This threw a huge monkey wrench into my game plan mighty quick and a short burst of adrenaline flowed into my veins trying to figure out how I was going to get the shots I needed now since the playing field was not all that big to begin with and the opportunity for those MAGIC turn shots I had planned out for days had now all but been destroyed. The perfect UP angle I HAD was gone, as was my diagonal angle for the turn shots. But what was I going to say to her “NO I’m not moving”? She was there to do a job like me, she was a young woman of about 17, fellow photographer with a similar goal and besides I have an obligation to be polite and helpful to another shutter bug who is just learning my craft, so says the oath I took from the Professional Photographers Association I pay all that money to every year LOL. So basically, “I MOVED” for her and ran the scenario through my head real quick WHILE the models continued to flow out onto the stage. I had to make some major adjustments but I made it work, I didn’t have a choice at that point right? So after the first session was over, I head into the library for the senior shots. Ya know that well organized, well planned SIMPLE shots I set up for? SURPRISE ! As I open the door I see a SEA of young men & woman scattered about in large groups, the noise is defining and my equipment like those tripods and lighting stands I set up before hand for the perfect portrait shots had been brushed aside by SOMEONE or those “One’s” again LOL. Well so much for planning on that part of my shoot too. Gotta go to plan “B” which is, ahhhhhhhh…… Well I left plan “B” back in the lower part of my Abdullah Oblongata and it never made it to the pad LOL. There’s no use in trying to organize anything at this point because I don’t have that much time before I need to head back into the stage area for the second half of the job and the young lady from the year book is already doing my job for me snapping photos of groups that were all but smiles and laughter at this point. OK, no problem I was a cop for 16 years and got paid to think on my feet everyday of my life to stay alive I can make this work right! Right, so off I went wondering the room and using the basic technique of “Show people you have a camera in your hands, point it towards them and they will pose automatically” WORKED LIKE A CHARM ! I never did get those personal PORTRAITS I was planning on taking but I did get a lot of very happy, well mannered high school students dressed to the “T” willing to smile and take some Street / Freelance shots so I guess it worked out in the end. The great thing is that the young lady shooting for the year book with her enemy brand equipment approached me with some photography questions along with asking me for some advice & tips on how to shoot the situation we were in really made my night. It brought back many memories of MYSELF at that age, asking for help and looking for some guidance in a hobby, craft & Profession that has consumed my life for over 30 years as one of my favorite things to do and reminded me of all the times I asked my father in law who recently passed away questions about photography and learning from him. It was a pleasure helping her even if it was just a minor lesson, but it brought joy to me knowing that I had the knowledge to pass onto someone in need who enjoys photography like I do. She’ll probably never remember my name or the events that took place that night, but hopefully she’ll remember that quick lesson in angles and lighting to shoot the shot someday and it will provide her with the knowledge to get out of a similar jam. Oh to end my little life story here, she approached me asking if she could possibly use a few of MY photos for the year book that I shot. I answered her the same I would anyone asking that same question to a professional photographer “SURE, as long as you give me my copyright credits under the photos and send me the $250 PER PHOTO Commercial Licensing fees you can have anything you want”! ROTFL – I’m only kidding, I didn’t ask for the copyright UNDER THE PHOTOS ! LOL – Hope you got that one, THINK About what I just said. To the young lady I just wrote about (I’m sorry I forgot your name, age does that to you), you have my card, call me anytime and I’ll get you the photos you need for your book it would be my pleasure. Thank you for the great fun memory and I hope you get use out of that quick lesson we talked about that night about angles & flash (BOUNCE). It was a pleasure meeting you and all the fine young adults of Jefferson High School, you represent your school well & I’m proud to have my oldest daughter in such great company & friends. Good Luck to the Class of 2008 & Good luck with your photography young lady, it’s a never ending lesson in capturing “LIFE”….. THE END! Whew I need a drink of water after that one……………

Best Regards,Bill

A little about Bill Pador

I am a 43 year old freelance photographer born & raised in New Jersey. Well most of the major holidays are over for the exception of bringing in the New Year tomorrow night. I hope you all had a wonderful holiday enjoying your family & friends. Myself I had a great Christmas with my kids, there's nothing like watching the joy on their faces on Christmas morning, it brings back your own memories of childhood and a time where life was just, well SIMPLE. Nothing to worry about except which gift you were going to play with or wear first. Ah the good old days right ?
Personally I had the pleasure of adding another great piece of equipment to my arsenal, the newest high tech camera in Nikon's line the Mighty D-300 ! This monster of digital technology is perhaps one of the finest camera I have ever had the pleasure to shoot. While purchasing it my salesman informed me that photographers that shoot Nikon's Dx2 Pro camera were trading their bodies in for this marvelous hardware to get in on the fantastic technology provided by this Digital Single Reflex marvel.
Sporting 12.3 Million High Resolution Pixels and the ability to shoot 8 frames per second the first thing you notice when you grab onto to this camera is that it is WELL BUILT ! A Magnesium Alloy body wrapped in space age rubber lends the feel of a tank in your hands. It's heavy construction of approx. 1.82 lbs. is well balanced and a pleasure to shoot over long periods of time. With the ability to shoot in 12 & 14 bit RAW format at 3 levels *Loss-less Compressed, Compressed & Uncompressed enables the user to do just about any Post Production work effortlessly, especially using the bundled software, Nikon's Award Winning "Capture NX" which was a welcomed surprise that they FINALLY bundled their software with the camera instead of making you spend another $200 out of pocket to adjust your photos properly using their software made specifically for Nikon cameras. Your also able to shoot in .TIFF, Several levels of .JPG and NEF (RAW) + .JPG combinations as well. The New 3" - 920,000-dot (VGA) Color LCD display with 170' viewing angle & 100% (yes I said ONE HUNDRED PERCENT) frame coverage makes for reviewing a capture a pure joy. The LCD screen now also seconds as a LIVE VIEW mode allowing the user to frame and shoot while looking at a live picture on the LCD without ever having to squint into the view finder. I have found this feature very helpful already allowing me to frame shots from ground & floor level without having to put my belly in the dirt, a welcome feature for sure. The screen colors are vivid and accurate especially when reviewing a shot using the multiple level zoom which is quick and precise.
The D-300 borrows many features from it's higher priced cousin, the D-3 ($5000.00) sharing the same auto-focus system which has multiple levels to choose from such as 9, 21 or 51 contact points along with a 51 point 3D Color Matrix Metering II system, Center Weight or Spot metering, which has worked flawlessly during my testing. ISO settings range from several choices of ISO-100 (Nikon calls L-1,L-.7 & L-.3) all the way up to ISO-3200 which can be pushed to ISO-6400 also using 3 steps (H-0.3, H-0.7 & H-1.0). Background "Noise" which is always a concern at higher ISO settings is "VERY LOW" even when using the highest ISO-6400 setting in low light using NO Flash and ambient lighting. I was amazed at how little noise that was detectable in the darker areas & blacks of the photos. JUST AMAZING picture quality which will add to the value of this camera every wedding I shoot allowing my customers to enjoy the highest in quality low light shots and enabling me to use every low light & creative lighting trick in the book now.
I could go on for days about this camera but I'll spare you any further technical details you may not be able to understand anyway. If your interested in further details there are tons of reviews online you could read by doing a simple google search. But for me, The bottom line is that by owning this camera and using it for my customers, YOU benefit from all this wonderful gadgetry in the end. It gives me the necessary tools to provide my clients with the highest quality photos to capture their memories for generations to come. Which is by all intended purposes the reason I do this in the first place ! Having the ability to provide a crisp, clean & VIVID image every shot that can been printed from a small 4" x 6" standard print all the way up to 30" x 40" Canvas master pieces and beyond is something that is very important for the finished product.
This will be my final blog entry of 2007, but 2008 is just 24 hours away and I'll start doing what I do all over again, shooting pictures and enjoying every click of the shutter ! I've started creating all NEW Projects and packages for the new year & Bookings for 2008 and even deep into 2009 are being reserved now, so call soon to book your special day before it's taken !
So for now, From my family to yours - THANK YOU FOR YOUR BUSINESS - "HAPPY NEW YEAR" and may 2008 Bring you Good Health and Happiness !

Best Regards,
Bill Pador

Short Nikon D300 Review

12-30-07 - Nikon D-300 Review

(*Originally Published 12/30/07 in old blog, moved 5/23/08 to new blog site here)

Good Afternoon !
Best Regards,Bill Pador

"International PUBLISHED PHOTOGRAPHER - EDITOR'S CHOICE 2007 WINNER" - *Animal Category*

"International PUBLISHED PHOTOGRAPHER - EDITOR'S CHOICE 2007 WINNER" - *Animal Category* (Originally Published on my Old Blog 12/07 & Moved Here 5/08)

12-14-07Pictured are the letters I received regarding my Award Winning Photo "Can you see me Now" . . . Titled "Can You see me Now" was captured at the Grand Palladium resort in Riviera Maya Mexico in May 2007. While I was out alone for a walk with my camera I headed for this tree that I had seen the day before and thought it would make a great photograph since it was unique the way it was split in 4 different directions possibly from a lightning strike or storm of some sort. So after I arrived at the spot I wanted to start shooting at I began clicking some frames off. Then I noticed something moving inside of it. I waited and waited but it wouldn't give me a clear view of what was there. After about 15 min. this lizard poked his head out just a tiny bit and then went back in. I kept saying "Come on dude, poke your head all the way out so I can get this shot" Finally he did just as I had hoped and this magical frame was taken just before he went back inside. I said to myself "SELF" I think I just heard that lizard say "Can You see me now" ? LOL Hence the title. I took one look at my 2" screen and new it was special and I couldn't wait to get back to my room to see it on my laptop. This photo required very little post-processing and basically came out of the camera the way you see it.
I entered this photo in an International contest in the Animal/Pets Category a few months ago and was just notified that after being reviewed by the selection committee it has been chosen as a semi-finalist and has also been chosen to be PUBLISHED in their next Nation Publication due out in the winter of 2008.
I knew the photo was special when I took it and the composition was perfect, but I never thought in a million years it would get "International" Recognition. It's an honor to have my work recognized by an International committee and be published in a book. To be in the company of other fine photographers and artists from around the world in the same book is just an incredible experience for me. Talk about walking on a cloud, I'm there right now and their real fluffy !
So that's my good news for today, Thanks for reading and sharing in my great news !
Bill

PS: This was Originally Published in my Old Blog back in 11/07 and has been transferred to this new blog site. . . . . Here you will find everything from my thoughts on interesting assignments, announcements, stories behind interesting captures I may take or just me rambling on about my daily life. Those who know me personally will tell you I'm an OUTGOING type of guy who loves to talk, write and just have fun. My clients will tell you the same thing because I feel the most important thing about being a great photographer and businessman is that you treat everyone as if they were your family & personal friend. So in doing that I create lasting friendships with all my clients, just because your event is over doesn't mean we are done. I like to keep in touch with everyone, see how life is treating them and just chit chat once in a while. Building a relationship with a client gives me an insight on how to do my job for them so that their memories will live forever.
I'm not just a photographer, but an artist as well and you can't be successful in either if you don't have clients & fans that love your work but most importantly that they display & share it with others who will enjoy it. It's like a band building a fan base, without the fans who are going to come to your shows or listen to your music in the car while stuck in traffic on Rt. #80 during rush hour on a Friday night when you have a dinner date. Every artist no matter what format they partake in will tell you without their fans they are nothing more then a talented person wishing someone would see or hear their art.
That's why I personally feel the Internet is such a great tool for photographers and artists in general, it gives us a place to show our work to MILLIONS of people now rather then just our clients, family and a select few who were lucky enough to see & appreciate what we do. You see anyone with a camera can take a PICTURE, but not everyone can capture an ARTISTIC PHOTOGRAPH that has meaning, feeling and tells a story from that fraction of a second that has been frozen in time. There is so much more behind an artistic photograph that a true artist takes verses the one aunt Mary shot of little Joey blowing out his birthday candles. That's where talent and a GIFT for photography come into play. To appreciate a true work of art you must understand the engine that drives the machine. By that I mean don't just GLANCE at a photograph and say "Oh that's nice", STUDY it and look at it like a piece of art. Try to figure out what was in the photographers mind when he took it and was trying to communicate to the observer and what it was that made you say "WOW". I can tell you that most if not all successful photographers are like me and see the world a little different then most people do. We live life walking or driving around using their eyes as a lens into the world always looking for that special place or moment to capture on film. Everything to me is a possible moment in time ready to be frozen in a fraction of a second. My mind and eyes are always saying "Wow that would look great at sundown with my 50mm Nikon lens at 400 ISO @ 1/30 of a second from this angel with the sun to the right and that tree to the bottom left corner" LOL. That's just the way our minds work, always looking at the beautiful world around us in a frame ready to be captured and shared with others. That's what PHOTOGRAPHY means to me and most likely every other person who has a passion for this art form. So the next time you look at some one's photograph, even aunt Mary's, take a few extra seconds to appreciate what they have created by taking that moment in time, capturing it in a split second to tell a story and be shared forever with anyone who is willing to take the time to share in the wonderful story behind it.
I hope you enjoy my work as much as I do creating it and find something in my public galleries you would like to purchase & display in your home, office or business material. MOST every image contained in this site are for sale for Private Prints, Advertising materials or Commercial Use. If you come upon an image that does not list a price for print or purchasing copyright use, Email me directly at: info@billpador.com for pricing or licensing fees.
Please feel free to comment on any photograph you like, rest assured I personally read & appreciate each and EVERY ONE of them !
I look forward to working for some you in the future and capturing your special moments so they may live forever !
"Dreams DO Come True"
Best Regards,Bill Pador
